Your safety ABC
EUROBUS is uncompromising in its efforts to ensure that it meets (and preferably exceeds) all the latest safety standards. Because we don’t just want to offer you unparalleled travel quality; we also want to give you all the safety you need to enjoy your trip to the full. With this aim in mind, we’ve produced this "Safety ABC" to explain all the various safety measures and precautions that EUROBUS constantly takes.
Coaches
All our vehicles are given thorough maintenance examinations at regular intervals. They are also subjected to annual technical inspections by the cantonal Road Traffic Office. Our vehicles not only meet all the safety requirements demanded by the state authorities; they are also equipped with state-of-the-art technology. And on top of all this, our entire vehicle fleet undergoes our own comprehensive safety examinations in our own EUROBUS maintenance centres.

Emergency organisations
Our round-the-clock emergency service is on call 24 hours a day to respond to any incident of any kind. Should the incident prove to have major repercussions, we would immediately assemble our Emergency Committee, which is composed of a thoroughly-trained core team together with external specialists. EUROBUS also works in close collaboration with the ELVIA Insurance Travel Helpdesk, which would look after families and friends in the event of such an emergency.
Equipment
A fire extinguisher, a first-aid kit and spacious and well-marked emergency exits are standard equipment on all our coaches. Each seat also has its own information booklet about safety on board. And, if necessary, we show a short film on board about our safety standards. EUROBUS also constantly strives to ensure that its vehicles are provided with the very latest safety equipment.
Experience
EUROBUS can look back on a long business tradition. We have been looking after the safety and the satisfaction of our guests for almost a hundred years, since 1909. And we make full use of all our decades of experience to ensure that your safety on board is second-to-none.
Insurance
EUROBUS holds a passenger accident insurance policy which provides liability coverage of up to CHF 100 million per insured event. Certificate of Insurance (PDF-file)
Licence
All coach operators must hold an appropriate operating licence from the relevant authorities, which entitles them to transport people. EUROBUS holds a valid licence from the Swiss Federal Office of Transport to operate commercial international passenger coach services.
Quality
EUROBUS is a member of the Switzerland Tourism Quality Programme, and has already earned Level III (QIII/ISO 9001) quality certification, which demands the provision of a comprehensive and internationally-recognised quality management system. In other words, EUROBUS does everything in its power to keep the quality of its products and services as high as possible, and to further raise its quality standards, all on behalf of its travelling guests.

Rest periods and breaks Safety and quality Seatbelts We advise our guests to wear seatbelts while travelling with us. This is already compulsory in some European countries, if the coach is fitted with such devices. And the wearing of seatbelts is set to become compulsory throughout Europe soon. |
Speed
The maximum speed limit for coaches in Switzerland is 100 kilometres per hour. If one of our coaches were to exceed this limit, an automatic speed reducer would immediately be activated, and would bring the engine and the vehicle down to the maximum permitted speed.
Swiss Travel Sector Guarantee Fund
EUROBUS is a member of the Swiss Travel Sector Guarantee Fund. This means that any money you have paid for your trip is 100% safe. Should any operator or provider become insolvent in the course of your travels, the Guarantee Fund will ensure your safe return home. EUROBUS thus meets all the requirements of the Swiss Federal Inclusive-Tour Travel Act.
Tachographs
All our coaches are equipped with the tachographs or "trip recorders", which are required by law. The tachograph records every movement of the vehicle, and also reveals whether the driver has observed the driving times and rest periods which are prescribed by law. These tachographs are checked regularly by the authorities.
