How Do I Make the Most of My Time on a Coach Journey?

Full of anticipation, Tina books her coach trip to Ireland and immediately starts finding out more about her destination. Endless landscapes dotted with green hills and flocks of sheep, with the sea and steep cliffs alongside. Even beforehand, the trip sounds dreamy. But after spending a while researching Ireland, it only dawns on her how far the coach journey will actually be. The driving itself doesn't bother her, but so far she has never spent more than an hour on a coach. How could she best spend her time?

For many, a long coach journey is a daunting prospect. Four hours on the road – what can you possibly do? Fortunately there is a simple answer to that question: there are very, very many ways to pass the time.

1.    Read something

Everybody knows reading as a pastime. With a good book in your hand, you can dive into another world anywhere, and you don't even notice how quickly time actually flies. What's more, the comfortable seats on the coach make for especially relaxed reading, so you can enjoy the journey to the full. If you happen to have no book with you for once, you will still find exciting reading in the EUROBUS onboard magazine or on the EUROBUS blog.

2.    Listen to a podcast or music

There are also people who can't read during a car or coach journey because it would make them feel unwell. But there are options for them too to make the journey a little more interesting. With a smartphone, tablet or MP3 player and a pair of headphones, you can relax to your favourite music in the comfortable seats. For those who would get bored of music after a while, there is of course also a huge range of podcasts, some of which can fill several hours on their own. An entertaining way to enjoy the journey.

3.    Enjoy the view

On a coach you travel through familiar and unfamiliar landscapes, discover new sights and can take pleasure in the most varied things. Especially in fine weather, you see things on the journey that you would otherwise hardly discover. Beautiful forests, horses at play and walkers with their dogs can be spotted even from the motorway. If you drive through more remote areas, it gets even more interesting. A small fishing boat on the waves, gulls and sheep will certainly be commonplace on Tina's trip. Perhaps small farms, Celtic burial sites or old castles will appear in the hills too – every journey is magical in its own way.

4.    Spend time on the free Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is offered on each of our coaches, providing a good pastime for long journeys. Not only do Netflix and YouTube offer entertaining videos that make the journey pass a little faster, you can also swap the latest travel news directly with your friends via social media. Tina, for example, posts new photos of Ireland, and her best friend sends her the photos of his trip in Croatia. That way you stay in constant contact and learn something new.

5.    Sleep

A popular pastime – especially when the coach sets off early in the morning – is to catch up on the sleep you need during the journey. With the soft hum of the engine as background noise and a comfortable seat, sleeping on the coach is a real treat. To stop your head from lolling about, the various travel pillows are particularly handy.

Although coach journeys sometimes seem long and uncomfortable, first impressions are deceptive. Thanks to state-of-the-art coaches, EUROBUS gives its customers a high level of comfort and an entertaining journey even on the way to the next sight.
