Advent in the Black Forest Mystical Ravenna Gorge - Freiburg im Breisgau - Colmar

Day 1: Switzerland - Breitnau

Journey to Freiburg im Breisgau, the capital of the Black Forest. Use your free time for a shopping trip or a stroll through the Christmas markets spread across various squares in the historic old town. In the late afternoon, continue to Breitnau. Check in at the Hofgut Sternen, typical of the Black Forest, located right at the entrance to the Ravenna Gorge. With 40 stalls, the Christmas market is compact, but impresses above all with its spectacular setting.

Day 2: Black Forest tour

(Optional excursion) Today you will take a tour through the Black Forest. You will visit the Dorotheenhütte, a Black Forest glassworks with a fascinating range of mouth-blown, hand-decorated Christmas baubles. Lunch stop in Offenburg with free time to visit the Christmas market. During the afternoon you will reach Gengenbach, home to the world's largest Advent calendar house. At 6.00 pm, you simply must not miss the traditional window-opening ceremony. Shining lights sweep across the magnificent 200-year-old town hall façade until a window of the Advent calendar town hall opens and the whole building shines in its full splendour. Return journey and later arrival at the hotel.

Day 3: Colmar - Switzerland

After breakfast, you will travel to neighbouring Alsace in France. The crowning finale of this Advent trip is Colmar with its fairytale Christmas markets. Let yourself be enchanted by the festively decorated half-timbered houses and discover Alsatian traditions. Return journey to Switzerland.
