Day 1: Switzerland - Düsseldorf
Journey via Basel to Düsseldorf. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: André Rieu concert
Enjoy the generous breakfast buffet at your leisure before we set off towards Maastricht around midday. On arrival in Maastricht, you have the opportunity to join a guided walking tour of the city (optional). Alternatively, you may stroll through Maastricht's old town on your own, perhaps visit one of the cathedrals or relax over a cup of coffee in one of the charming little cafés. Even after the guided tour, you will still have plenty of time to explore independently. Then the highlight of your trip awaits: André Rieu, surrounded by his Johann Strauss Orchestra, will give his very best at the Vrijthof. Hardly any other violinist knows how to inspire such a wide audience and fill large concert halls as he does.
Day 3: Cologne
(Optional) At midday, we travel to Cologne. Get to know Cologne, a city of art, universities and media, on a guided tour. The city's landmark is Cologne Cathedral. Cologne's old town captivates with its historic charm. Narrow, quaint alleyways beckon with traditional old houses. The countless brewery taverns, pubs and restaurants invite you to linger. After the sightseeing tour, you will have free time at your disposal.
Day 4: Düsseldorf - Switzerland
Return journey to your drop-off points in Switzerland.
André Rieu and his concerts
Even as a child, André Rieu was enormously fascinated by the world of music. His father was a conductor, and he still remembers the bombastic sound of the orchestra and the many bows moving in the same direction at the same time. However, he was puzzled by the subdued atmosphere at these concerts. Everyone wore a serious expression, nobody was allowed to clear their throat, let alone laugh. And this despite the fact that the music radiated so much joy. You will search in vain for this artificially solemn atmosphere at an André Rieu concert. The orchestra is made up of young, highly motivated musicians who give their all on stage night after night. This spark of enthusiasm spreads to the audience too. Sway along, hum along, clap, jump – anything goes!
