The world's best formations and bands
Since 2006, the Basel Tattoo has brought the finest and most spectacular military music and show formations from all over the world to Basel. Bands from the best-known royal households also lend the event an extraordinary elegance.
To date, more than a million spectators, young and old, have witnessed the breathtaking marching performances of the large formations and have been enchanted by moving Scottish Highland sounds and exciting dance routines.
After the famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the Basel Tattoo is the second-largest event of its kind in the world. Under the patronage of the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS), the Basel Tattoo enjoys the status of an official Tattoo of Switzerland.
Every year, the Basel Tattoo presents a selection of musical delights from around the globe. Renowned bands, formations from royal households, authentic Scottish bagpipers and many other first-class groups ensure a truly exceptional spectacle.
The show offers a highlight for everyone: traditional marching music, classic earworms, well-known modern pop songs and exciting musical experiments – framed by fantastic dance routines and impressive lighting and firework effects.
Besides an extraordinary musical treat and gripping rhythms, you can once again look forward to magnificent costumes and uniforms as well as the crème de la crème of the Massed Pipes and Drums.
