Day 1: Switzerland - Tuscany
Journey via Ticino and Milan to Gragnano.
Day 2: Medieval Lucca
The roots of Lucca go back to the time of the Etruscans. To this day, the historic city walls, magnificent churches and stately palaces shape the charming townscape. On a walking tour you will discover, among other sights, the former Roman amphitheatre as well as the churches of San Michele in Foro and San Martino. During a short stop you will enjoy the typical Lucchese cake with an espresso or cappuccino. In the afternoon, a wine and olive oil tasting with delicious bruschette at a winery rounds off the day perfectly.
Day 3: Viareggio Carnival
In the morning you will visit the Cittadella del Carnevale in Viareggio, where the impressive floats and skilfully crafted papier-mâché figures for the famous carnival are created. During your tour you will also discover the Carnival Museum. Afterwards there is time for a stroll along the elegant seafront promenade. After a lunch break at your leisure, the highlight of the day awaits you: the great Viareggio carnival parade. Spectacular themed floats and giant papier-mâché figures move along the promenade and, with music, colour and exuberant spirits, create an unforgettable experience.
Day 4: Florence
Today you will discover Florence, the famous metropolis of art and culture. The tram takes you comfortably to the historic centre, where magnificent palaces, impressive churches and important squares await you. The lively historic market hall with its colourful hustle and bustle provides an exciting contrast. Before returning to the hotel, you will enjoy typical Tuscan specialities accompanied by a glass of wine.
Day 5: Pisa and Lari
In Pisa, much more than just the famous Leaning Tower awaits you. During a walking tour you will experience the impressive setting of the cathedral, baptistery, Camposanto and the world-famous tower on the Piazza dei Miracoli. You then continue to Lari, a charming small town. There you will visit a family-run pasta factory where traditional types of pasta are still made by hand. To round off the day, you will enjoy a cherry liqueur tasting.
Day 6: Gragnano - Switzerland
Return journey to Switzerland.
