Day 1: Switzerland - Hamburg
Journey to Hamburg.
Day 2: Hamburg
Today is devoted entirely to Hamburg. During a city tour, a local guide will show you the most important sights and districts of the port city. Afterwards, enjoy a breathtaking view of the modern HafenCity from the Plaza of the Elbphilharmonie. In the afternoon, feel the Hamburg breeze on your face during a harbour cruise. Depending on the water level, you will sail through the Speicherstadt, the various locks and harbour basins. You will see the enormous container ships from close up.
Day 3: Lübeck
(Optional) Lübeck, often affectionately called the "Queen of the Hanseatic League", is a historic city in northern Germany, known for its impressive medieval architecture and its UNESCO World Heritage status. During a guided city tour, you will discover, among other things, the old town with its winding lanes and traditional buildings. Lübeck is particularly famous for Niederegger marzipan, which is closely linked to the city's history. In the renowned Café Niederegger you can not only taste a wide variety of marzipan, but also learn more about the art of marzipan making.
Day 4: Lüneburg and the Scharnebeck Ship Lift
(Optional) The picturesque old town, the medieval flair, the small winding lanes - Lüneburg is probably one of the most romantic towns in Germany. TV producers evidently thought so too in 2006, choosing the enchanting Hanseatic town as the setting for the telenovela Rote Rosen. 20 seasons and more than 3,500 episodes later, Rote Rosen has become almost part of the town's furniture. Day after day, the loveliest impressions, from the town hall and the Old Crane to the historic old town, flicker across TV screens. During a guided tour, you will discover the filming locations live and in colour. In the afternoon, continue to Scharnebeck. Here on the Elbe Lateral Canal stands Germany's largest ship lift. As in a giant lift, cargo ships overcome a height difference of 38 m in two water-filled troughs, each 100 m long - from the Elbe marshes up to the Geest and back in the opposite direction. You will explore this spectacular structure with a guide.
Alternatively, you can spend the two days in Hamburg entirely as you wish. There is plenty to discover!
Day 5: Hamburg - Switzerland
