Day 1: Switzerland - Hamburg

Journey from Switzerland to Hamburg. You will stay overnight at the 4* Hotel ARCOTEL Rubin. Dinner will be served in the hotel's own restaurant.

Day 2: Hamburg

Today you will board the legendary MS Finnmarken. This historic postal ship will take you north into the Arctic. Take some time to familiarise yourself with your comfortable ship. In the evening, your first delicious menu on board awaits you.

Day 3: Esbjerg

The Danish city of Esbjerg combines its seafaring tradition with a distinctly modern Scandinavian style. It lies on the edge of the UNESCO-protected Wadden Sea National Park. Stroll through the elegant town centre or try Danish classics such as smørrebrød.

Day 4: Stavanger

One of Norway's most photogenic cities captivates with its colourful lanes and the best-preserved collection of wooden houses in Northern Europe. The city is famous for its culinary scene.

Day 5: Ålesund

After breakfast on board, we dock in Ålesund, a town spread across a series of islands. Join an optional excursion or explore the Art Nouveau-inspired town on foot at your own pace.

Day 6: Rørvik

This idyllic fishing port looks back on a rich history – told by superbly equipped museums. In the afternoon, the voyage continues further north. During the night, you will cross the Arctic Circle.

Day 7: Lofoten - Svolvær & Stokmarknes

Today you will explore one of Norway's most beautiful regions, the Lofoten Islands. The MS Finnmarken docks in the town of Svolvær in the morning. You will have the opportunity to wander through galleries and admire the Svolværgeita mountain. Afterwards, the ship makes a detour to the town of Stokmarknes, where it will dock again for a few hours.

Day 8: Tromsø

Tromsø, 350 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, is the gateway to the Arctic – and the best address for the Northern Lights. Trendy restaurants, art galleries and the impressive Arctic Cathedral with its stained-glass windows await you. The Polar Museum and the Polaria experience centre showcase Arctic wildlife. Keep your eyes on the sky – with a little luck, you will catch sight of the magical Northern Lights!

Day 9: Honningsvåg

The highlight of your journey: the legendary North Cape. Today you will travel to the northernmost point of mainland Europe. Unforgettable views and magnificent snow and ice landscapes await you. Optionally, try your hand at traditional ice fishing or enjoy precious king crab specialities from these waters. Once the North Cape has been reached, the ship sets course southwards.

Day 10: Alta

Alta, at 70 degrees north, is regarded as one of the best places in the world to observe the Northern Lights. Visit the historic rock art and the Northern Lights Cathedral – a museum of Arctic light research. For the adventurous: dog sledding through snowy landscapes or a visit to the world's northernmost ice hotel.

Day 11: Narvik

Narvik is picturesquely located on a peninsula where three spectacular fjords meet. For an unforgettable panorama of Narvik, we recommend taking the cable car up Narvikfjellet. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the town and the three surrounding fjords.

Day 12: Cruising through the fjords

Today we sail southwards along the enchanting Norwegian coast. Admire wind-swept islands, sheltered bays and some of the most beautiful fjords in the world – a privilege that only small ships such as the MS Finnmarken can enjoy. Majestic sea eagles accompany the voyage.

Day 13: Åndalsnes

This picturesque coastal town is set beneath imposing mountains – the reason for its reputation as a mecca for nature lovers and climbers. Optionally, take the Romsdal Gondola up Mount Nesaksla for breathtaking views of the Isfjord, or experience the “Golden Train Route” – praised by Lonely Planet as “the most scenic train journey in Europe”.

Day 14: Bergen

Bergen, once the capital of Norway, captivates with its seven mountains and its closeness to the sea. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bryggen, with its colourful warehouse buildings dating from the 14th century, is a dream of past and present.

Day 15: North Sea

This last full day on board is dedicated to your well-being. The expedition team presents a photographic summary of your journey. The final dinner on board is sure to be another highlight.

The North Cape adventure ends back in Hamburg. You will return to Switzerland with unforgettable memories.
