Day 1: Switzerland - Malaga - Tangier

Direct flight with Swiss from Zurich to Málaga, where your coach driver will be waiting for you. Continue by coach to Tarifa and cross by ferry to Tangier. Here you will be welcomed by your Moroccan tour guide, who will accompany you throughout the trip.

Day 2: Tangier - Meknès - Fès

Journey to Meknès. Moulay Ismaïl, the power-hungry Alaouite ruler, had Meknès developed into the mightiest fortress city in North Africa. To this day, the imposing remains of the defensive walls and granaries shape the face of the city. Onward journey to Fès.

Day 3: Fès

Walk through the most important of the four imperial cities, the spiritual and cultural centre of the country and home of the Islamic university, the Karaouyine. In the narrow alleys of the medina – the old town – teeming with life, with merchants, craftsmen, dyers, donkey drivers and tanners, you will feel transported into a medieval fairytale from the "Arabian Nights". Let your senses be enchanted by the oriental aromas, the noise in the alleyways or the call of the muezzin from the minaret.

Day 4: Fès - Erfoud - Merzouga

Through delightful cedar forests and across the wide plateaus of the Middle Atlas, you venture into the Sahara. In the oasis town of Erfoud you take a short walk before driving to the hotel right on the edge of the Merzouga sand dunes, which rise up to 100 m. Here, dinner awaits you in an atmospheric desert setting.

Day 5: Merzouga - Ouarzazate

In the "Valley of 1000 Kasbahs" between Merzouga and Ouarzazate you will discover the first kasbahs. These are the bold Berber fortresses built from rammed earth, ochre-coloured fairytale castles that appear like a mirage in the barren lunar landscape. In spring, when the fruit, almond and rose trees are in bloom, colours and scents burst forth here between the stony desert and the karst mountains.

Day 6: High Atlas - Marrakech

The Kasbah of Ait-Benhaddou rises in the middle of the fascinating stony desert. Passing the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas, you cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at more than 2,260 m to reach the palm-fringed oasis of Marrakech.

Day 7: Marrakech

While Fès is also known as the blue city, Marrakech is regarded as the red one. The houses are all in shades of red, pink or ochre. This imperial city is the mysterious, colourful Orient in all its splendour, and the country takes its name from it. You will visit the Saadian Tombs, stand before the impressive minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque and admire the Bahia Palace. You will stroll across Djemaa el Fna square with its jugglers, merchants, snake charmers and storytellers, and through the bewildering labyrinth of alleyways in the old town, the medina.

Day 8: Marrakech - Essaouira

The journey leads through wide landscapes dotted with argan trees to the fresh Atlantic coast. In Essaouira, white houses and blue doors create a unique flair. On a walk through the windswept port town, you can enjoy the salty sea air and the relaxed bustle at the fishing harbour.

Day 9: Essaouira - Casablanca - Rabat

You travel along the coast to Casablanca, where you will marvel at the Hassan II Mosque. The modern capital Rabat invites you to a tour with its broad avenues and spacious parks. The Royal Palace, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the small Kasbah of the Udayas are well worth seeing.

Day 10: Rabat - Costa del Sol

Journey north to Tangier. Ferry crossing to Spain, passing through the Strait of Gibraltar. Coach journey along the coast to the sunny Costa del Sol, where you will relax in Benalmádena.

Day 11: Granada

Guided city walk in Granada. Like a fairytale from the Arabian Nights, the proud Moorish-oriental Alhambra Palace (UNESCO) presents itself with its charming courtyards and the blossoming Generalife Gardens. Rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 12: Malaga - Switzerland

Coach transfer to Málaga airport and return flight with Swiss to Zurich.

Throughout your stay in Morocco, you will be looked after by a local German-speaking tour guide.
