To gain a comprehensive impression of the beauty of Marseille's old town, we recommend a detour to the Rue du Panier, not far from the eastern side of the Vieux Port. Green plants, antique shop signs and wonderful restaurants make the old town what it is. Just as lovely is the "Vieux Port", meaning the Old Port of Marseille. It is the heart of Marseille, and along the quayside there are many cafés and bars. Try delicious French specialities such as sweet crêpes, a filled baguette or fresh seafood.
