Day 1: Switzerland - Munich
Journey via Bregenz to Munich. Arrival at approx. 13:30. Afterwards, free time at leisure. A successful city break includes not only a visit to the Christmas market, but also a leisurely shopping trip. Shopping in Munich brings to mind the expensive designer boutiques on Maximilianstrasse, such as Gucci, Armani or Yves St. Laurent. But there is now a shopping scene that offers considerably more: new high-class temples of consumption such as the Fünf Höfe, the second-hand shops in Schwabing or the Sunday flea market in the Kunstpark Ost. You will discover the quirky and the cool, as well as esoteric items and modern design, and time and again the curiously Bavarian, with loden, lederhosen and felt hats. The scent of coffee, truffles and chocolate greets visitors from all over the world at the Dallmayr delicatessen; shopping at Dallmayr is a feast for the senses. And in the evening? Total indulgence with a Michelin-starred chef serving nouvelle cuisine, hearty roast pork at the Hofbräuhaus, or a chic trendy restaurant. The list is endless...
Day 2: Munich - Switzerland
Spend the whole morning shopping or at the Christmas market. Take a break for a Brotzeit, a traditional Bavarian snack. After all, indulging in good food is very much part of life in Munich, and the legendary Viktualienmarkt in the city centre welcomes you with a bountiful selection: from fresh vegetables and Far Eastern spices to delicious antipasti.
13:30 Return journey to Switzerland or extra night.
Please note that the central drop-off and pick-up point for all hotels is at the corner of Bayerstrasse/Senefelderstrasse. All three hotels are in the immediate vicinity (max. 5 minutes' walk).
The Christmas market
In addition to the Christkindlmarkt around Marienplatz, which is famous far beyond the city limits, almost every district of Munich has its own Christmas market with a special flair and unique offerings. The heart of the main Christmas market is Munich's "good parlour" in front of the New Town Hall. The Christmas market on Marienplatz by the town hall consists of around 140 stalls.
Opening times:
Mon. - Sat.: 10:00 - 21:00
Sun.: 10:00 - 20:00
Shopping in Munich
Munich offers truly idyllic conditions for indulging in a shopping spree – and in architecturally impressive surroundings, too. The first port of call for most shoppers is the central pedestrian zone in the old town (Kaufingerstrasse, Neuhauserstrasse, Marienplatz). Here you can explore one department store after another, stroll past branches of well-known fashion and shoe chains and discover souvenir shops in between. What was considered a bold experiment when Germany's first pedestrian zone was built in 1972 is now an integral part of Munich. Today, almost the entire old town is reserved for pedestrians as a shopping area. It is hard to believe that all long-distance traffic once squeezed through the city gates via Marienplatz!

Sat.: 10:00 - 18:00
