Day 1: Switzerland - Zwickau
Journey to Zwickau, the intellectual, cultural and economic centre of western Saxony.
Day 2: Altenburg, the city of games
After a hearty breakfast, we set off on a walking tour of Altenburg. The city of playing cards is world famous. Anyone playing cards in Germany is probably holding a product made in Altenburg. But Altenburg has far more to offer than playing cards. The former royal residence town is rich in sights, above all the castle perched on a rock above the town. Alongside lovingly restored buildings, parks such as the green oasis by the Grosser Teich invite you to explore. Altenburg Castle has stood on its porphyry rock for over 1,000 years. In the afternoon, you will visit the Altenburg brewery. An interesting guided tour awaits you, and of course a tasting including soup.
Day 3: New Year's Eve celebration
After breakfast, your guide will be waiting for you for a tour of Zwickau. Known well beyond Germany's borders as the birthplace of Robert Schumann and as a car-making city, Zwickau captivates with its historic centre, with its many buildings from the 15th century and restored Art Nouveau houses. The Priesterhäuser, first given this name in 1521, are four two-storey houses forming an architecturally unified group and are particularly worth seeing. They feature the steep gabled roofs typical of late medieval construction. In the evening, an atmospheric New Year's Eve celebration awaits you at the hotel, where you can welcome in the new year 2027 with music and dancing.
Day 4: Zwickau - Switzerland
Today it is time to say "Goodbye, Zwickau!" With wonderful memories and renewed energy for the year 2027, you begin your journey home.
