Day 1: Switzerland - Dorfgastein
Journey to Dorfgastein.
Day 2: Top of Austria! - the Grossglockner High Alpine Road
The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is one of Austria's best-known landmarks and is regarded as one of the most beautiful scenic and panoramic roads in the world. Over a length of 48 kilometres, the largely high-alpine road blends almost seamlessly into the mountain landscape and leads hairpin bend by hairpin bend into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. It climbs all the way up to Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe, with views of Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner, and the Pasterze, the largest remaining glacier in the Eastern Alps. Majestic mountain peaks, glaciers, green valleys and forests – a sight that will leave you amazed!
Day 3: Salzburg
Journey to Salzburg. Mozart's birthplace is famous for its magnificent architecture, its towering fortress, its romantic little lanes, its beautiful old town and its small shops. After a guided tour of the impressive city centre, you will have time in the afternoon to visit a coffee house or go shopping.
Day 4: Zell am See
(Optional) Today we head to Zell am See. On a boat trip you will enjoy views of impressive mountain panoramas – the Steinernes Meer to the north, the Hohe Tauern to the south, Zell's local mountain, the Schmittenhöhe, to the west, and the town of Zell am See itself. Afterwards you can explore Zell am See at your own pace. Then we continue to a rustic alpine hut in Rauris, where you will be expertly introduced to the making of schnapps and bacon. After an introduction to how schnapps is distilled, liqueur is prepared and bacon is smoked, you can taste the schnapps while enjoying a delicious bacon and cheese sandwich.
Day 5: Dorfgastein - Switzerland
Return journey to Switzerland.
