South England - Cornwall - Land's End Cliffs, gardens and palaces in the spirit of Rosamunde Pilcher

Day 1: Switzerland - Arras

Journey via Basel to Reims, home to its towering Gothic cathedral. Continue to Arras for the overnight stay.

Day 2: Arras - Salisbury

Drive to Calais and take the ferry across to Dover. The Cliffs of Dover, the high white chalk cliffs, greet you from afar. You follow the unspoilt coast to idyllic Rye, a town with ancient cobblestones and crooked half-timbered houses. Via Lewes you continue towards Arundel, a small town known for Arundel Castle. Onward journey to the centre of Salisbury.

Day 3: Salisbury - Stonehenge

In Salisbury you visit the mighty cathedral, a masterpiece of English Gothic architecture. Breamore House is one of the country's most important Elizabethan manor houses. As a country estate that is still lived in today, it offers a unique insight into the traditions and lifestyle of the English landed gentry. Continue to the mysterious 5,000-year-old stone circle of Stonehenge. Its basic layout consists of an outer ring and an inner horseshoe of sandstone blocks.

Day 4: Stourhead - Cornwall

In Stourhead you stroll through the pinnacle of British landscape gardening. In 1720 the banker Henry Hoare had a lake landscape with classical-style temples and grottoes created around a pond at his country house. Stourhead is regarded as the most famous example of "painted" landscapes. Via Exeter, whose skyline is dominated by its magnificent cathedral, you reach the wild and romantic Dartmoor National Park. Overnight stay in St Austell, in the heart of Cornwall. Various scenes from the Pilcher films were also shot at the "The Cornwall" hotel.

Day 5: Cornwall - Land's End

(Optional excursion) With the tour guide you travel to England's westernmost point, Land's End. Typical of Cornwall are romantic coastal towns, small farms, narrow lanes and little white cottages, moorland and hills. St Ives was once a sleepy fishing village with colourful houses, until painters and sculptors arrived, drawn by the intense light. Rosamunde Pilcher spent her childhood here.

Day 6: Cornwall - Bristol

Once again you follow in the footsteps of Rosamunde Pilcher with the tour guide and visit the manor house Prideaux Place, which has been home to the Prideaux-Brune family for 400 years. It repeatedly serves as a film set and invites you to enjoy a typical "cream tea" with scones and strawberry jam. In Clovelly, a former pirate haunt, you will feel as if you are on the "Coast of Dreams" and walk down the 120 m on foot to the picturesque, car-free fishing village. Towards evening you arrive in Bristol.

Day 7: Bath - Lille

Short drive to Bath. In the morning, a walking tour and a drive around Bath. This magnificent city owes its beauty to the genius of two men, John Wood the Elder and the Younger. The two architects gave their squares and crescent-shaped streets their harmony. The hot springs of Bath were already developed by the Romans. Among the many things worth admiring in Bath is Pulteney Bridge over the Avon. The Royal Crescent, the Circus, the Assembly Rooms, the Theatre Royal and much more are a must. Onward journey to Dover and Lille.

Day 8: Englos - Switzerland

Return journey from Lille across France and through Alsace to Basel.
