FROM TODAY BACK TO THE BEGINNINGS

The Davos physician Dr. med Carl Spengler – son of Dr. Alexander Spengler, who laid the foundations for Davos as a health resort – was an enthusiastic supporter of HC Davos, founded in 1921. Wishing to support his club and, at the same time, to bring together through sporting contact the nations that had become enemies during the First World War, he donated a challenge cup for Christmas 1923. According to the deed of foundation, he wished to give the once hostile nations an opportunity to test their strength in peaceful competition and to shake hands in a spirit of comradeship.
