Tulip Festival in Morges
The Tulip Festival, with free admission, lasts six weeks and displays 140,000 tulips. The variety of the flowerbeds, in which 300 different varieties are planted, attracts numerous tulip lovers and showcases the great diversity of shapes and colours.
The first varieties bloom from April and entice families to make their first outing of the year to the lake. At weekends, entertainment is regularly provided in the Parc de l'Indépendance. Drinks and light snacks are served on site.
The Tulip Festival was launched in 1971 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Vaud Gardeners' Association. Several of the flowerbeds are each laid out by apprentice gardeners from the Morges vocational training centre.
