A Day Full of Experiences – on a Day Trip with EUROBUS!
Text: EUROBUS AG
Bruno has been part of EUROBUS since 2016. He began his career with a commercial apprenticeship and almost three decades have passed since, during which he has planned day trips with great dedication and constantly developed new ideas. His passion for culture and cuisine is reflected in the trips; no wonder the Thunerseespiele are among his personal favourites. In his private life he enjoys sharing a fine meal with good friends and seeing the latest shows and musicals, and it is precisely this sociable zest for life that he brings into his trips as well.
But it is not only culinary trips that appeal to him; he is also enthusiastic about experience tours that give guests special insights. Zurich Airport from A to Z, for instance, is one of his most exciting projects. “It is always fascinating to see how a huge machinery works in the background to keep air traffic running smoothly,” he says enthusiastically.
From idea to perfect day trip
Ideas for new day trips come from a wide variety of sources: customer requests, tips from drivers or inspiration from newsletters and travel magazines. Bruno keeps a list of potential trip ideas, which he works up bit by bit. It is not only about exciting destinations, but also about perfect scheduling and vehicle planning and the availability of restaurants and events.
Flexibility is essential here. “Every now and then everything turns out differently from planned,” laughs Bruno. Spontaneous changes or unexpected challenges are part of everyday life for him, but with his experience he always finds a solution. It becomes especially challenging when organisers change programmes at short notice or timetables change. In such cases the answer is to improvise and find creative alternatives, so that guests can enjoy their stay smoothly and without a care.
The concert coach – relaxed travel to the musical highlight
A particular highlight of the day trip programme is the concert coach. Why struggle with the car or public transport when you can travel comfortably with EUROBUS? No hunting for a parking space, no crowds; instead, relaxed anticipation with like-minded people. “Interesting conversations often develop on the bus among fans,” says Bruno. “People strike up a conversation, talk about the music and enjoy the sense of community.” Many appreciate getting in the mood on the journey itself, talking about past concerts or simply sharing the anticipation together.
The concert coach offers a further advantage: after a rousing concert, nobody has to worry about getting home. Especially with events that end late, public transport often can no longer get you home; the concert coach closes this gap perfectly. This year, concert trips to Ed Sheeran, AC/DC and Imagine Dragons, among others, are on offer. The combination of a relaxed journey and a musical highlight is becoming ever more popular, a sign of the success of this offer.
Day trips for every taste
EUROBUS offers a wide range of day trips, from gourmet trips through the Black Forest to Swiss wrestling and Alpine herdsmen's festivals. Shopping and market trips are also in great demand, especially among solo travellers who like to travel in a group. The trend shows that more and more guests are specifically looking for social experiences. Day trips in particular offer the perfect opportunity to meet new people and experience something together.
What never fails to delight are mother-daughter trips, which are especially popular at Christmas markets. “That is a really lovely tradition to watch. Mothers and daughters deliberately take time for each other, enjoy the festive atmosphere and browse the market stalls together,” says Bruno. Culinary trips also have their loyal fans, because good food brings people together, whether over a Black Forest gateau or a cosy fondue evening in the mountains.
Closeness to customers and future prospects
Bruno has known many regular customers for years, especially in the Biel area, where he has built up close customer relationships. The positive feedback motivates him in particular: “Many guests say thank you after a trip, and I always like to pass the praise on, to the driver or to the restaurant that provided the culinary experience.” Guests' appreciation shows not only in personal words of thanks, but often also in the fact that they book their next trip straight after a successful one.
In future, too, EUROBUS will continue to develop its day trip offering, integrate new destinations and further expand trends such as solo travellers and experience tours. “It is nice to see that more and more people use day trips as small breaks from everyday life,” says Bruno. “You do not always have to take a long trip; sometimes a single day full of lovely experiences is enough.”
