Day 1: Switzerland - Chartres
You travel via Basel along the Autoroute du Soleil towards Chartres. This medieval town lies on a plateau surrounded by wheat fields on the banks of the River Eure. You will spend the night in the town centre.
The last boarding point in Switzerland is Basel, Meret Oppenheim-Strasse, at 09.10.
Day 2: Chartres - Normandy
You cross the lush green hills of Normandy, one of the most fertile regions in the country. Bayeux is a special case among the towns of Normandy, having dedicated itself in particular to the preservation of its cultural heritage. Following in the footsteps of the liberators of the Second World War, you reach the coast at Arromanches, where the Allied troops landed on 6 June 1944 to liberate Europe. The fascinating little Musée du Débarquement recalls the significance of this place in the Second World War. Onward journey to Saint Malo.
Day 3: Mont Saint Michel
Excursion to the wonder of the Western world and the highlight of every trip to Normandy: Mont Saint Michel. Visible from afar, the fortified abbey on its 80 m high rock dominates the tidal flats like a mirage, and at high tide it is completely surrounded by water. A causeway almost 2 km long links the granite rock to the mainland, and during strong high tides it is still entirely surrounded by water. During the course of the day, return to Saint Malo. Although the old town was almost completely destroyed, it has been rebuilt as faithfully as possible to the original, with its narrow lanes and tall granite houses.
Day 4: Southern Brittany
(Optional excursion) Accompanied by the tour guide, you drive past the legendary enchanted forest of Paimpont, where the myths of Merlin the magician, the fairy Viviane and Lancelot come to life. At Carnac, you stand in a mystical world before a riddle that remains unsolved to this day: the mysterious 5,000-year-old menhirs and rows of stones made of local granite. Stroll through the flower-filled medieval town of Vannes, whose perfectly preserved and richly decorated, colourful half-timbered houses are protected by a mighty town wall.
Day 5: Northern Brittany
At the mouth of the Rance, you stop at the interesting tidal power station and learn a little about energy generation. The power station is located inside the dam, with a 390 m long tunnel. Visit to Dinan, a jewel among the old Breton towns: its fortress walls, lanes and 15th-century half-timbered houses form a harmonious picture. Stroll through the picturesque old town, which lies high above the River Rance. Dinan is one of the best-preserved towns in France. Then you drive to the jagged, picturesque "Emerald Coast" and the legendary Cap Fréhel.
Day 6: Saint Malo - Loire Valley - Blois
Via Le Mans, you travel to the Loire, the Garden of France. In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, princes, dukes and kings brought immense wealth to the Loire Valley and built countless châteaux and palaces. Onward to Blois. Over four centuries, rulers have altered and extended the town and above all the château, which you will visit. The conspiracy against Gaston of Orléans, the flight of Marie de' Medici and the murder of the Duke of Guise are enough to feed the legend.
Day 7: Blois - Switzerland
Return journey to Switzerland.
